Position Overview:

We are seeking a Director of Development to join our staff team in this newly created role to breathe life into our development strategic plan; to bring structure, imagination and enthusiasm to the growing sophistication of all of our development activities. This role is both strategic and tactical, requiring the ability to think big while focusing on the details.

The Director of Development is at their core a relationship builder and dynamic team player who thrives on deepening connections and designing and implementing engagement opportunities that strengthen individual commitment to our vision for a vibrant Jewish future. The Director of Development reports to and is directly supervised by the Executive Director.

You are an excellent project manager. You have the ability to handle work from various sources from start to finish, prioritizing and executing tasks with sound planning and follow-through.

You have a commitment to listening and working with humility, and to supporting a space for all diverse perspectives within our team.

You are calm under pressure, have a sense of humor, and are kind.

Qualifications + Skills:

Bachelor’s degree and at least 3-5 years of relevant experience, such as individual fundraising, donor engagement, customer service, or relationship / account management.

Exhibit advanced knowledge of working with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

Proficiency working with: Zoom, Google Drive, Microsoft Office, calendar software, and a background in, or the ability to learn quickly, other relevant technologies, such as Asana.

Available to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Since Jewish values drive our work and the Jewish community is our context, it is important to have some preexisting familiarity with the Jewish community to be considered for this role.

Responsibilities:

The Director of Development will breathe life into our development strategic plan to maintain and grow donor and prospect relationships, increase revenue, and deepen the commitment Den supporters have for our work in the community.

  1. Relationship Management + Philanthropy

In collaboration with the Executive Director, identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of donors and prospects, securing gifts through face-to-face solicitations and meetings, providing relevant prep materials and appropriate follow-up.

Utilize considerable initiative, independence, originality, and responsibility for developing new methods and techniques for relationship building and building a pipeline of donors.

Develop and implement engagement opportunities, such as programs and events that further our philanthropic goals and deepens the connection our donors, prospects, and members have to the vision, work, and impact of the Den.

Design and implement a robust stewardship strategy, including overseeing donor acknowledgments.

  1. Donor and Prospect Strategy

Engage and inspire the Den’s Board of Directors and Advisory Council members to build awareness, make introductions, and act on behalf of the Den as ambassadors in the community.

Conduct donor research to strengthen our donor base and pipeline.

Write, proofread and / or edit select communications (proposals, collateral materials, social media, etc.) as applicable.

  1. Data Management

Oversee data management, recordkeeping, reporting, and analysis regarding all organizational fundraising.

Specific responsibilities will include pulling reports and gathering / processing data in Salesforce (onsite training will be provided).

  1. General Support

Work on special projects with the Executive Director as assigned.

Salary: $70,000-$85,000 commensurate with experience
